Introduction

Tank Mania is a fast-paced roguelike tank horde shooter where you survive escalating waves of enemies, stack absurd upgrades, and forge overpowered synergies in chaotic twin-stick arena combat. Every run throws you into an ever-intensifying battlefield where smart positioning, sharp aiming, and clever build choices determine how long you last.

Inspired by the classic tank battles of Wii Play, the build-crafting depth of Risk of Rain 2, and the relentless action of Enter the Gungeon, Tank Mania challenges you to experiment with class upgrades, stack powerful items, and uncover game-breaking combinations. Adapt your playstyle, push your build to its limits, and take down deadly bosses before the arena becomes completely overwhelming. Every upgrade matters, every synergy stacks, and every run is a chance to build a tank that truly breaks the rules.

About The Project

Tank Mania is being developed as part of our final-year project at the University of Salford.

Our goal is to create a polished and replayable roguelike experience focused on fast combat, build synergy, and horde-scaling gameplay.

This demo represents our current progress, and we’ll continue improving the game through play testing and player feedback.

Features

  • Fast-paced twin-stick tank combat 
  • Roguelike progression with supply crates and upgrades 
  • Stackable items and synergy-based builds 
  • Endless scaling hordes of enemies 

Whats next?

  • Gate-Based Level Structure

    Levels will be separated by gates that unlock when the player defeats a boss, adding clearer progression and pacing to each run. 

  • Modules

    A new category of high-impact items with powerful effects, limited to four active at a time, offering meaningful strategic depth and build constraints.

  • New Enemy Types

    Drones, kamikaze units, and healers will diversify the enemy roster and demand new positioning and prioritisation strategies. 

  • New Bosses

     Upcoming boss encounters include an electric boss, a mecha boss, and a serpentine snake-like boss, each with distinct attack patterns.
